Qwest DSL Now Available!
-
Great news! Qwest DSL service
is now available to additional
Blue Mountain locations!
-
Qwest has a
list of Internet Service Providers
(ISPs) that may be used with their DSL service.
Each ISP can set its own price structure after you pay Qwest
for DSL, so it's a good idea to go to their websites or
contact them to see what they will charge.
-
You can call Qwest to
sign up for service. You might want to check their
on-line offers first though.
-
There will be no
degradation of service. If we pass 100 subscribers,
Qwest will add more lines/hardware.
-
If you reference the
referral number when you sign up, a small financial reward
will be paid to a fund that will go toward a picnic for us.
-
Please share this
information with neighbors.
-
Special thanks to Steve
L. and others for working hard to convince Qwest to bring
DSL to us!
-
Check if Qwest
Broadband is available to your location on Blue
Mountain by entering your phone number on
Qwest's website.

More details coming
soon!

Septic
Regulations Nearing Finalization
-
The Clallam County On-Site Septic (OSS) Work Group held a
meeting
on September 24,
2007 at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. 4th Street, Port
Angeles.
-
OSS Work Group draft
plan as of 8 May 2007:
-
Interpretation by
Blue Mountain Neighbors:
Depending on what kind
of septic system you have and where your property is, you
may be required to have annual checks by a professional.
But some properties will only have to be inspected every
three years with the property owner doing the inspection
every other time. In this case a professional
inspector would be hired every six years. It all
depends on the type of system you have, where your property
is, and your willingness as a property owner to take a
training course in septic system inspections and do the work
yourself.

Point-of-Entry
Surge Protection Program Begins
-
Clallam County PUD Press Release, 1/19/07
-
Interpretation by
Blue Mountain Neighbors: Clallam County PUD
initiated its optional, fee-based, Meter-Base Surge
Protection Program providing supplementary "primary
point-of-entry" surge protection for participating PUD
customers. Using this in combination with other surge
protection devices offers a layered approach. This is
of special interest for those particularly concerned about
surges, like many of us on Blue Mountain Road.
-
Many thanks to some of
our Blue Mountain neighbors who were instrumental in
bringing about this change!

Emergency 911 "Cold
Facts" Vial
-
Clallam Fire District #3 information, photos, and procedures
-
Interpretation by
Blue Mountain Neighbors: During a 911 emergency,
conditions may make it impossible for you to communicate
certain critical items of information to the responding
medics. Clallam County has a "cool" way to ensure that
doesn't happen. Your medical history, along with other
pertinent information can be stored in a special yellow vial
which you keep in your refrigerator. The accompanying
sticker for your door alerts medics to check your
refrigerator in case of emergency.
-
The door sticker and
special yellow vial may be obtained from the Sequim Senior
Center, 683-6806.
